These are just some of the hats I choose to wear, and I’ll answer to any of them, usually with a smile. They’re all bright, colourful headpieces that fit me well, and I try to keep them looking fresh and new!
Less vibrant are those times when I’ve realised I’ve been popped into a box that looks exactly like a lot of other dreary boxes and has Person with Parkinson’s or Patient printed neatly across the front in permanent marker. There’s only a dull old hat in there to hide under, and a sign saying I should keep quiet and leave my future in the hands of people who’ll get around to helping me when they have time and/or the funding comes through…maybe….
Are you kidding me?? I direct the New Voice Choir and I’m not going to keep quiet about who I am, who we are and what we do!
I am on a mission, or rather, we are on a mission to jazz up the minds and lives of our amazing choir members, to push back as hard as we can against our Parkinson’s symptoms, and to brighten and enlighten the minds and lives of members of the broader community by sharing our special brand of the Parkinson’s gospel far and wide!
So if you feel you could do with some jazzing up, some pushing back, some brightening or some enlightening (or even a bit of everything on offer), you should be reading the Membership or Book Our Choir pages of this website!
If you would like to contact me directly, please feel free to email me at:
(Incidentally, nowadays I often find myself just answering to ‘Boss’!)
